I know I am not alone in this sentiment. It is a juggle between the end of the school year activities and holiday preparations with an already over-committed work schedule and daily tasks of a parent. Multi-tasking at its best. In fact, I post this blog to you as I indulge in an early birthday gift of making the grey disappear from my hair. My wish for the \u201cgift of time\u201d inspired this week\u2019s<span style=\"color: #999999;\"> <i>simple pleasure<\/i>:<\/span> two easy holiday desserts,<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> eggnog <em>cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e<\/em><\/span> and a<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> pear <em>frangipane<\/em> tart with vanilla bean and orange. <\/span>&nbsp;<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/DSC00246.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-10869\" title=\"chef morgan\" alt=\"DSC00246\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/DSC00246-580x386.jpg\" width=\"464\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/DSC00246-580x386.jpg 580w, https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/DSC00246-350x233.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 464px) 100vw, 464px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">If you are hosting for the holidays, or were asked to contribute a dessert, this week\u2019s recipes may make your task a little easier. Both desserts are easy to prepare, take little time, and can be made in advance. They are are completely different in flavor and style yet both are perfect for this time of year.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">The<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> eggnog <em>cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e<\/em><\/span> is my holiday take on that famous French custard. The custard takes 10 minutes active time, 30 minutes oven time, and 3 hours to chill. It is best if prepared the day before and placed in the refrigerator overnight to chill. <em>Br\u00fbl\u00e9e<\/em> (burn) the sugar on top before service.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/chef-mrogan-pear-fragipane-tart.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-10853\" alt=\"chef mrogan pear fragipane tart\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/chef-mrogan-pear-fragipane-tart-500x500.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/chef-mrogan-pear-fragipane-tart-500x500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/chef-mrogan-pear-fragipane-tart-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/chef-mrogan-pear-fragipane-tart-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">T<\/span><span style=\"color: #999999;\">he <\/span><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">pear<em> frangipane<\/em> tart<\/span> <\/span>is a classic holiday tart best in the autumn and winter months when pears are at their most flavorful. The tart can be prepared in advance and it takes about 30 minutes active time and 60 minutes oven\/rest time. Making this tart involves 3 steps which do not have to be done all at once (good for a busy schedule): (1) making the <em>frangipane<\/em> (which can be done in advance); (2) making the tart shell (also can be done in advance) and partially baking it; and (3) filling the tart shell with the<em> frangipane<\/em> and the pears and baking it until golden. Seasonal pears go well with the vanilla and the almonds; however, you can substitute raspberries for the pears if you prefer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/IMG_3719.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-10882\" alt=\"IMG_3719\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/IMG_3719-350x262.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/IMG_3719-350x262.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/IMG_3719-580x435.jpg 580w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">My hairdresser tells me my hair is done which means so is this post.
