With the warmer weather and a chic, simplicity implied for the occasion, I have a little something for your own red carpet celebration: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Ahi tartare (with tangy citrus soy and sesame dressing). <span style=\"color: #999999;\">The recipe is below.<\/span><!--more--><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\">The Oscars<b>\u00ae<\/b><b> <\/b>show this year is March 2, 2014.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\">If you are not going to the Oscars<b>\u00ae<\/b> (which most of us are not) you will likely have an Oscars<b>\u00ae<\/b> party &#8211; formally or informally &#8211; at your home. It is hard not be be interested and, in fact, the Oscars<b>\u00ae<\/b>\u00a0show draws a world-wide audience.\u00a0The reasons are many, ranging from the awards themselves and hearing what Ellen is going to say to seeing who is wearing what and how they look in it on the red carpet as they enter. Even if you are not having a formal \u201cparty\u201d I suspect that many of you will be gathered around the television. I know that my daughters and I will be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-13964\" alt=\"chef morgan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC02745-580x436.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"556\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\">This brings us to the food for the show. Oscars<b>\u00ae<\/b> gatherings require Oscars<b>\u00ae<\/b><b>&#8211;<\/b>worthy food. This is not the Superbowl fare you prepared a month ago. Oscars<b>\u00ae<\/b> food requires little plates or lighter meals with a sense of Hollywood. An understated elegance. Something sleek and timeless. The same time, the host does not want to spend all day in the kitchen because no one wants to miss the pre-show. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\">This tartare is simple and delicious. It is just a matter of chopping and combining. The tartare can be served as a plated first course or served in shot glasses for a passed appetizer. You can substitute fresh tuna if you cannot find fresh Ahi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\">Wishing you a delicious and stylish celebration. As for me, I am eager to see if the celebrities this year are as well-dressed as this tartare\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00e0 table<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">LM<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-13968\" alt=\"chef morgan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC02957-500x500.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC02957-500x500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC02957-175x175.jpg 175w, https:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC02957-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>Ahi Tartare with Tangy Soy-Citrus and Sesame Dressing<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><i>This can be plated by using a biscuit cutter to shape the tartare or served as an appetizer in shot glasses (served with little spoons or chopsticks)<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\">makes 12 shots or\u00a04-6 plated entr\u00e9es<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\">1 pound sushi grade Ahi (about 2 cups diced)\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u2154 cup diced mango<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00bd cup diced avocado\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u2153 cup diced apple<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">3 tablespoons cut in chiffonade fresh mint<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">1-2 teaspoons black sesame seeds<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #888888;\">dressing<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">2 tablespoons soy sauce<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">2 tablespoons rice vinegar<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">2 tablespoons quality olive oil<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">1 teaspoon fresh ginger zest<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00bd teaspoon fresh lime juice<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\">kosher salt, as needed<\/span><span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Make Salad<\/span>. Dice the ingredients, as indicated, all the same size. Place in a bowl with sesame seeds and mint.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Make Dressing<\/span>. Whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, ginger, vinegar, and lime juice. Season to taste. Pour dressing over salad. Toss gently and adjust seasoning as necessary. Enjoy immediately.
