These man-made packages of protein wonder come in the form of powders, liquids, gels, gums, and even jelly beans. However, I was raised with the notion that if you want something, you go to the source. Drinking a protein shake with a lengthy ingredient list replete with names and processes that I do not understand, let alone pronounce, does not interest me. However, it is possible to have a super-fast protein shake that is good for you and tastes great without resorting to the powders and formulas so this week\u2019s<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em> simple pleasure <\/em><\/span>is just that: <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">real (tofu ) protein shakes.<\/span><\/em><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/tofu-protein-shakes-a-complete-meal\/mailchimp-4\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5426\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-5426\" title=\"www.chefmorgan.com\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/mailchimp-350x262.jpg\" width=\"515\" height=\"436\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #999999;\">There are two shakes: one is made with fruit and the other is made with green vegetables.<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Both are dairy-free, vegetarian, gluten-free, all natural, and have no added sugar or sugar substitutes<\/span>.<\/em> If you have 5 minutes you can make these protein shakes. They store in the refrigerator. They can be frozen into popsicles for a hot day. They can be put in a <span class=\"famos-shop click famos-annotation refid-11ONC\" title=\"famos thermos\">thermos<\/span> for your child\u2019s lunch or your lunch on the run. They are fabulous.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Rather than a dairy-base, these drinks use <span class=\"famos-shop click famos-annotation refid-11ONE\" title=\"famos silken tofu\">silken tofu<\/span> (also referred to as soybean curd or bean curd) as their base. Tofu is the result of coagulating soy milk. It is very low in calories (84 calories for 3 ounces), high in protein, and cholesterol-free. Silken tofu has a custard-like consistency and is the perfect introduction to tofu for those of you who have never had it or have had a less than pleasant experience with it in the past. Berries are high antioxidants (blueberries are the highest and are also good for your memory and to avoid muscle fatigue). For blending, this drink uses <span class=\"famos-shop click famos-annotation refid-11ONO\" title=\"famos elderberry juice\">elderberry juice<\/span>. Elderberries are not only known for improving vision and your respiratory system but for giving your immune system a boost and is said to combat flus and colds. Elderberry juice can be found at <a class=\"famos-link click famos-annotation refid-YZL3\" style=\"border-bottom: 1px dotted #4F739E; cursor: pointer; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"famos Whole Foods\" href=\"http:\/\/accounts.famos.com\/accounts\/services\/click\/default\/YZL3\/?r=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wholefoods.com\" target=\"_blank\">Whole Foods<\/a> and most grocery stores (however, if you cannot find it, use cherry juice).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/tofu-protein-shakes-a-complete-meal\/juice-croip\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5425\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-5425\" title=\"www.chefmorgan.com\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chefmorgan.com\/engine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/juice-croip-225x300.jpg\" width=\"380\" height=\"440\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Using frozen berries makes this shake something you can make throughout the year. It also chills the shake without diluting it as ice would. Using frozen fruit is also less expensive than fresh fruit. You can use a fresh or a frozen banana (freezing bananas is an easy way to make the most of bananas that quickly ripen should they not make it into your banana bread in time). Bananas are high in potassium, vitamins and minerals and are known to give your body a power boost. Your recommended daily dose of 5 fruits in one complete serving <em>with protein<\/em>. Bring a saucepan of slightly salty water to a boil. Add kale. Boil kale leaves for 2-3 minutes. Drain and then place kale in an ice bath. Remove from the ice bath and dry kale well (you can lay it on paper towels.) Rough chop the kale leaves.
